The depths and depravity of how low Najib and Rosmah had lived their life while in Seri Perdana is now on show. Their lot in the coming years will be in and out of courts until a pardon can realistically be considered by the powers that be - a pardon considered only because, even for all the things they have done to sate their arrogance and greed, surely leaving them to live what is left of their pathetic lives in jail may just be too much punishment even for these two...but let that be a few years down the road. For now, let them rot in jail and let them have enough time to think of their misdeeds and let them understand that nothing that they have done is worth spending time in jail for. Not for the pink diamond, not for the Hermes bags, not for anything that money can buy.
If you have known Rosmah well, you would expect her to end her life as it is ending now. Her greed, her avarice, and her contempt for others throughout her life are legendary. As the karmic decision of the courts unfold yesterday, we can say with some certainty that her ending would equally be as legendary as the life she had lived so far, for surely there are not many 70-year-olds who have just been anointed a convicted felon. None that I know of.
We say these things not to gloat over her misfortunes, however much deserved, but to ponder how is that among us, there are people like her and her husband. They are in our image, and in that guise, they do things that make one wonder how common sense, morality, and ethics can be so lacking.
I remember the first time I laid eyes on Rosmah. That was two decades ago, and I still remember the wave of revulsion that swept through my mind as I saw her stride into a roomful of people waiting for Abdullah Badawi. How can so much arrogance, self-denial, and hubris be all wrapped up in that short, stumpy and obese body of hers, and how was she able to project all that to everyone present without really trying? As she moved through the crowd, she was indeed the center of attention, but for the wrong reasons. Every eye followed her walk across the floor with contempt, and we all collectively wondered what kind of beast would she be when Najib does become prime minister.
Today we know that not only was she a beast but a corrupt one too, dabbling in black magic bordering on Voodoo. I want the cell doors to shut on her as they have shut on Najib. Out of sight, out of mind. And, if putting her in jail will be the only thing that will make her shut the fuck up...do it soonest.
