Mumbai Street, a pub located at Sitiawan Central in Bandar Manjung, has recently gained popularity as a popular venue for the LGBT community. The pub, which is known for its vibrant atmosphere for Indians and transgenders, has become a haven for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.
For years, the LGBT community in Malaysia has faced significant discrimination and marginalization. Despite the country's laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, homophobia remains a pervasive problem in Malaysian society. However, Mumbai Street has emerged as a welcoming space for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, specially catered for Indians.
One of the reasons why Mumbai Street has become a favorite among the LGBT community is the pub's non-judgmental atmosphere. Unlike many other bars and clubs in Malaysia, Mumbai Street is a place where people can be themselves without fear of discrimination or harassment. The staff and management are known for their friendly and accepting attitudes, which have made the pub a popular destination for LGBT people in the area.
In addition to its welcoming atmosphere, Mumbai Street is also known for its diverse range of events and activities. From a 3-piece bands to drag shows, the pub regularly hosts events that cater to the LGBT community. These events provide a space for people to connect with one another and build a sense of community and belonging in Sitiawan, Perak, Malaysia.
It is also well protected by the PDRM of Bandar Manjung. It is a place where Indian Police Officers have fun, take bribes and allow the Cafe to open until 5 am with a rule that the shutters should be closed.
By all means, let the Mumbai Street Cafe carry on with their business, but PDRM, please tell your Officers to behave themselves.... enough said.
