I did my Form Six at SABS Kuantan. My classmates and seniors were a diverse lot. From Negri Sembilan Royalty, to those who come from far off places and villages…Lanchang, Kuala Lipis and Beserah. From this diverse lot of Malays, Chinese and Indians came the new Malaysians. They became senior civil servants, professionals and Captains of Industry. Many were conferred Datukship - all, without exception, truly deserved. Some sadly are no longer with us, while those still living, are bonded together because we are Malaysians and our alma mater is SABS Kuantan.
And so those truly rural folks who studied with me in SABS…and who are now of my age…are educated. We went to English medium schools and are able to read and listen to English mainstream media. We are IT literate. So, maybe, it is not entirely true to say that the rural Malays as easily gullible.
What we see happening in the rural areas today is money politics, which can penetrate even to educated people. That's where the strength of this Convicted Felon is. Along with a lack of moral values, the rural Malays become easy prey for this Convicted Felon and other corrupted leaders.
To counter the money politics we need to expose the corrupted leader's lavish lifestyle, their sexual exploits, the crumbs they hand out to the people and the lack of infrastructure they provide to the rural areas that cause heavy burden to the livelihoods of the rural poor, especially during emergencies and natural disasters. The recent flood is a case in point.
Malaysian police seized $29m in cash from a property linked to the ousted prime minister Najib Razak as part of their investigation into the 1MDB scandal, while 37 bags of jewellery, watches and gold bars seized are yet to be valued.
The young billionaire (not) son of that Azeez of Tabung Haji infamy. Traveling around in private jets? Siapa tanggung?
The tacky opulence of Najib and Rosmah daughter's wedding, where "not a single cent of government's money was spent." Ptui!
Second wives of aged politicians and the sexual excesses of the rich and powerful.
Cash seized from corrupt officials and politicians.
And so this Convicted Felon talks about giving $2000 BRIM to those in need if BN is elected? Why don't the Opposition highlight what this Convicted Felon will take for himself if he is elected....and what he had already taken for himself from 1MDb would be a good place to start!!! Ptui!
Guess what? I'm from SABS too. I'm the last of the English medium school students, after which Malaysian education started it's slide downhill.
