The Sultan from these two states must understand what they are up against. So far you titah this and you titah that and you have your macais running here and there trying to please your every whim and fancies.
These macais do so not because you are Sultans, but because they earn their living by doing so. Some just a pittance, some a fortune. Most of them are Malays who like to think that they are part of the privileged Royal circle. Privileged my foot!
They range from those servants who are paid just enough to keep body and soul together, to those Orang Orang Kaya di Raja who are no more than glorified servants - glorified because they get their now useless Datukship from the Sultans for being servants too. If they are smart enough, they reap profits for the things they do for the Sultans. And if they are smarter, they reap bigger profits for the things that they do, supposedly for the Sultans - but mostly for themselves. The Chinese are better at this than the Malays, but all things considered, these are despicable human beings who usually profit at the expense of the rakyat of the state.
And the things that they do? They range from selling Datukships, going into “joint venture” with the Royals : anything from getting timber concessions, mining licenses, export of sand, growing Musang King to simply taking state land for whatever purpose - for development, resell at massive profits to all comers or just stripping the land of any timber and leaving it bare and exposed to the elements resulting in floods and much damage and mayhem to any villages and villagers that are unfortunate enough to lie in the path of the floods.
And these Royals with the “assistance” of these hangers on, try to extort, from any businessmen wanting to do business in their states, some compensation for allowing them to do business in their states. And, if they can, take equity in these business ventures and take exorbitant salaries just to lend their names to these business ventures. And of course, you must not forget that much loved phrases beloved of these Royals…”UP FRONT” fees for any business ventures they enter into!
These despicable practices are possible because of the complicity of corrupt and just as greedy government servants and politicians in these states - from the Mentri Besar down.
When, in the time to come, sooner I hope, rather than later, when it is time that we do away with these Royals, let all the other Royals not forget that the Royals from Pahang and Johor should be held most responsible for turning Malaysians against the Royals because of what they have done as Sultans of their own states and for the way they behave when they were Kings.
And all you need to do is to look at the despicable antics of Dollah Pendek in Istana Negara and Mr Sultan Down South…the two most sorry examples of fornicating and greedy Sultans that I had ever come across in my 75 years of living. Ptui!
