Let us not begrudge this Jovian Mandagie guy for the business 'successes' that he has had since his father-in-law became DPM, and subsequently, PM. Now his business is going global. He was in Japan with the PM recently. Let us wait and see if there is an announcement of an MOU or a JV with Japanese partners, in whatever lah.
He has, among other cars, in his garage, a Lamborghini and a Porsche...and of course, we must not forget that his wife is the daughter of Mael Bera, the PM of Malaysia.
What sickens me is that there are well-established businesses in Malaysia today that are clamoring to be linked to those who are families of Ministers, Deputy Prime Ministers, and, Prime Ministers. Every time there is a change in the leadership of UMNO or in the government of Malaysia, we see also a change in those people who can, and will, take a ride on the coattails of their father who is the PM or the coattails of their father-in-law who is the PM.
The same happens when there is a new King...the same bloody things happen.
Make hay while the sun shines.
I do not blame Jovian Mandagie. I do not blame his wife....nor must we apportion too much blame on Ismail Sabri. What is Mael Bera to do when those lucrative offers pour in for his son-in-law. He knows he is not going to remain PM forever. He knows that he might not even be PM after PRU15, so what the hell? Get on the merry-go-round, get on the gravy train, and make the money while you can.
And anyone who wants a piece of him, his family, or his son-in-law...just tell them...Show Me The Money!
Nice to have the courage, skill and luck to create wealth. It does seems helpful to be connected. The public investors tend to support this sentimen in the capital markets. At the end of the day, a business usually grow due to best quality products and services, competitive pricing and delivery on time. Cronyism helps but may not be sustainable. There have been many examples of that.
