Who is keeping track of the billions of FDI coming our way? MOUs are mirages kan?

Let us not forget the lessons of the past.

In 2016, Malaysia and China signed 14 MOUs related to the defence, economy, agriculture, education, finance and construction sectors. Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang witnessed the signing ceremonies after jointly chairing a bilateral meeting between Malaysia and China at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing yesterday. The 14 business arrangements sealed between the two countries were worth RM143.64 billion.

How many of those MOUs became reality? And if any of them did, to what advantage for Malaysia and Malaysians?

Question: Who is now keeping track of the billions of FDI that are purported to be coming our way?

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia attracted RM71.4 billion in approved investments from January to March 2023 (1Q23). The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said 1,265 projects were approved. The projects would generate 23,977 new job opportunities across the manufacturing, services and primary sectors.

If all these reports of billions and billions of FDI that are coming our way are to be believed....then Malaysia is indeed an FDI magnet that will see billions of ringgits poured into our country creating thousand of jobs and the various spin-off resulting from these investements.

But what is real and what is a mirage? Can someone from the government tell us when these FDIs are coming in? If they are coming in at all !!!
