Has there been any credible accusation of corruption in PMX's Unity government? Any blatant abuse of power. Any hint that there has been impropriety or misuse and abuse of political power for the vested interest of individuals? Is there any suspicion that a Minister in the Unity Government has done any favors for family, friends, or cronies?
DSAI has been PMX for less than a year. He came to office with expectations that he would achieve the impossible. The Messiah. The savior. The new dawn. New beginning. We wanted DSAI to do the impossible. With a wave of his magic wand, we wanted him to restore peace and harmony among all Malaysians. Great things must come, we all insisted. No more corruption. No nepotism. The hype was overwhelming.
No one can live up to those expectations. Not even DSAI.
Do not forget that DSAI is leader for Malaysia - and Malaysia includes Kedah, Perlis, Terangganu and Kelantan. It includes all religions. It includes atheists. Includes LGBT. If the young Malays are enamored of PAS and what PAS stands for, then Anwar must find a way to work with them. There are too many of them to ignore. DSAI must persuade the MBs of the SG4 to work with the federal government, not with anyone else. There is room for dissent in a democracy. Are we mature enough to accept and embrace dissent and debate, in our journey toward democracy?
Our King had the right idea. He wanted a unity government. He wanted reconciliation. That want by the King, is still unfulfilled, but there can be no better way towards that goal, than with DSAI.
That, which was once impossibly out of our reach, is now possible. An ex-prime minister in jail. Done. His wife convicted of corruption? Done. Another prime minister being investigated for corruption? His son-in-law questioned by MACC for corruption? Done.
Even things that once seemed an impossibility now seem possible.
Ministers have been put on notice to perform. KSU's are no longer overlords of all that they survey. Some are being replaced. Political Warlords in PKR? Perish that thought. No personality cult. No ministers with APs, licenses, negotiated tenders, grants, or allocations to dole out to entitled friends and cronies. No letters from Ministers secured by friends and cronies to give them carte blanc business opportunities that will bring them millions. And for all this, we can breathe a sigh of relief.
Things are not perfect, but a "can do" sense prevails. If something is wrong with the government there is the possibility of making it right. Little Napoleons no longer rule their roost with impunity. They now have to look over their shoulders worried that they will be outed - and sooner rather than later, they will be outed. Checks and balances are being put in place to ensure there is justice and fair play where it matters. GLCs are being asked to explain the decisions made. No one, not even PMX is above scrutiny.
And here lies the problem. Kasi betis nak peha. This unity government is being asked to do more. Much more, as the public begins to have a taste of what is possible.
PMX has declared, to each of us, the right to worship as we think fit. So why question his wish to be present at the conversion of people into Islam? Every Friday PMX will be at Friday prayers as some of you will be at Church on Sundays. To each his own. Malay rights, Chinese dominance in business and the economy, the lack of opportunities for Indians, Sabah and Sarawak wanting secession....all these issues are being debated by many of us because we can. And if you are directly affected by any of these issues, you can stand up and protest without having to worry that SB will be watching you, or, heavens forbid, someone will be knocking at your door in the early hours of the morning to take you into custody.
We have an opposition able to take government if a general election is to take place anytime now. Do you know what that does to those already in government? What that means is that those in the government now must strive to continually convince the voters that they deserve to be in government. If not, out they go.
How good does that make you feel? We decide who will do government. We decide who will be the PM. All these were stuff of dreams and fantasy just a decade ago. Today, at the very least, a two-party system is already in place.
This can only get better....maybe soon, there will be another political party or block that will keep the bastards in Parliament honest because they will be able to cast the deciding votes in any election.
All these are not the stuff of dreams. We are almost there. All that is needed is for us all to patiently watch developments around us. Choose the right people to put in parliament. Make these MPs understand that they work for you and not the other way around. We, the rakyat, will prevail.
In Malaysia today, in government, in politics, and in the things that matter, there is no absolute! Thank God for that!
I remember a time when the following was true. UMNO has decided - there is no room for dissent. The prime minister has spoken. Done deal. There were UMNO warlords, cronies, and political secretaries whose power rivaled that of the PM. And the only time the rakyat mattered, is during the general election.
All that is now history. We are now living in a time, and in a place, where anything is possible. Be thankful for that.
Who got the contracts to print 1 million copies of quran to be dustributed in europe to combat islamophobia? And those madani school books. ABiM members?
And how did tesla by pass the AP system and sell its cars tax free? Shouldn't other car brands be similarly treated the same way?
Why give. BErnas and billionaire syed mokhtar subsidies so he can sell more of the imported rice to poor folks? Our subsidy policies benefit the rich such as oil companies and syed mokhtar. The supposed official trip to Saudi was actually a tax payer paid umrah fir DSAI. Flew by officizl jet, see a few MOU signed but never met the leaders of Saudi.
True , anything is POSSIBLE
Only for the ELITES
We live in Orwellian Malaysia
To make AI do/action on our expectation of him can only by continuous pouring cold water and not praise/bodek or tinted rose glasses....😁😁😁
In my opinion….
1. It is too early to say current ministers are free of corruption……… it took yrs for Umno’s corrupt ways to surface to the public and it took a change of govt to convict these people……. Of course some were set free later or just a DNAA 🥳🥳
2. Yes ….. we expected much of PMX mainly because of his more than 20 yrs shouting reformasi and what he can do when/if given the chance to govern our country
3. Najib in jail because the govt under Tun pressed charges against him and many others and the court found him guilty after going through a very2 lengthy due process. Many others were set free after Tun left…
