The most successful Malay leader, the one who bucks the trend, the one who doesn't apologize for anything he does, and the one who would not succumb to pressures and bow to popularity is Tun Dr. Mahathir. I make no apologies for reminding you guys about this reality. About the reality that he left Umno to lead the Opposition to electoral victory at PRU14. That as Prime Minister, he appointed a Chinese as Finance Minister, and an Indian as Attorney General and, included a very young Syed Saddiq in Cabinet. His deputy was Wan Azizah - the First Lady to become Deputy Prime Minister. Tun got a pardon for Anwar Ibrahim and in Tun Mahathir, we had a prime minister who had already proven he had the ability to manage the Royals. He started the process of bringing Najib , Rosmah and the Umno Court cluster to justice. Najib and Rosmah are now convicted felons.
70% to 80% of those who read what I write are non-Malays. 90% of those who have assisted me financially are non-Malays. Evert time I write about the good that Tun Mahathir had done, I get hammered through private messages, and comments made on WhatsApp, FB, and the Net. I get the message that the non-Malays are very much against Tun Mahathir for I believe they think that he has been responsible for PN taking government from PH.
They forget that after the Sheraton move, Tun Mahathir wanted a government of National Unity - a government that eschews race or religion. He wanted to pick the best that Malaysia had to include in his cabinet - sans politics, race, or religion, to form a government of National Unity. He was defeated in this attempt because Umno wanted consideration to be given to drop the criminal charges against Najib, Rosmah and the Umno Court clusters. Tun Mahathir sad no to that - and so, despite initially having the support for a national unity government, that support was withdrawn, and PN took government when Dollah King ignored the reality of Tun having the numbers to do government, and instead appointed Muhyiddin as PM.
Where, in all these shenanigans, is Tun Mahathir to be blamed? And how are you able to now have so much dislike, bordering on hate, for the man who kicked out Umno after 60 years of corruption, pardoned Anwar, put the Royals in their place, and started the process of including non-Malays in government in a meaningful way? If you tell me that Tun Mahathir imposed his will on the PH Cabinet - then I say the fault lies with the members of the cabinet who did not have the guts to stand up to the old man - including Azizah who was his deputy. And of course, once again, the people that he trusted - Muhyiddin and Azmin let him down.
These are things that many of you do want to read about - but write about it, I will because my interest all this while, is to write about things happening in Malaysia without fear or favor. You have a 96-year-old man trying to do what is best for Malaysia. So what if his children are damm wealthy - look at how the children of other politicians squander the business opportunities given to them because of who they are? Mahathir's children did not. For sure they got where they are now because of who Mahathir is, but instead of abusing the business opportunities that came their way, they built upon them.
You think he is too old to do politics? Listen to what he has been saying in the lead-up to PRU15. And then listen to what others in the same political race say to us when they are campaigning. Do you want to compare them to Tun Mahathir? Like chalk and cheese.
Umno has done an excellent job of hoodwinking all of you guys to hate the very man who could have put together a credible alternative to BN in PRU15. And the sad part? You guys think that you did it all by yourselves! You have put together all this dislike bordering on hatred for Tun Mahathir because you think that Tun was the one responsible for PH losing government to PN.
Wake up, guys. Wake up before it is too late. Tun Mahathir is the most successful Malay leader. He is the one who bucks the trend, the one who doesn't apologize for anything he does, and the one who would not succumb to pressures and bow to popularity. Yes, he is Malay, and if that is a problem for all you non-Malays, think again. I make no apologies for reminding you guys about this reality - we need this Malay leader to defeat the Malay Umno at the PRU15...and if you guys think otherwise...God help us all.
Malaysia’s problem of cronyism and corruption is TMM making, no one can deny this fact.
Tuan. I don't think people hate Tun. But most people don't like what he did while he was PM the first time. He is solely responsible for dismantling the guard rails we had. He was solely responsible for concentrating all the powers to the PM. These are the premises the current corrupt leaders use to sakau again n again. Then the rakyat forgave him and gave him a second chance. He did some good things without a doubt. But he also caused great damage to PH when he said that the manifesto was not binding. The 2018 elections were won because the different opposition parties came together and the rakyat especially the Malays woke up. It was not solely due…
Just getting out from here... plain stupid everywhere...
A piece of Bullshit... 22 YEARs Rule and another 22 months rule...see where is our Great Nation Now.. Blind, deaf and dumb article ... RIP (Rot in Pain)
Mari kita keluar PH...when it is very clear he will not honour his promise to step down. Now you have no place to keluar lagi.
