What PMX does today, will define our tomorrow, and will define our future. And I thought that there will never come a day when I, steadyaku47, will say that we need the Royals to come on side with us to ensure that what PMX wants to do for King and Country, will be done....but the time has come for all of us to be together.
The Royals have taken up the slack. They have entered the political fray and responsibly stamped their authority, which leaves us all with no doubt that the Royals are here to stay. They, more than anyone else, have given us PMX. They, more than anyone else, have given us the Pakatan Harapan Unity government. And they, more than anyone else, have 'saved' us and our nation, from being overrun by the Green Wave of Perikatan Nasional - a fate, I am sure most of us will agree, a fate worse than death....religious extremism running riot!
Now, will we see the Royal take a similar stand on Race and Religion?
As far as religion is concerned, that should not be a problem, for our constitution already states that the Royals are the head of Islam in their respective states. It is a matter of now going to ground level to ensure that Islam plays its part in uniting the people of their state and that Islam respects the religious beliefs of others - as what the holy Koran teaches us all to do. The Sultan of Johor and Selangor have done this by example.
Through their actions, the Royals have insisted that the religious beliefs of others are to be respected, and, even, celebrated together. We hope that these Royals will now do the necessary to ensure religious extremism and toxicity that will poison the minds of their own subjects, be eradicated completely, lest it destroys the very ties that bind us together.
It is the racial conundrum that may prove to be a more difficult thing to resolve for are not the Royals, Malays too? And are they not seen by the Malays to be their leaders and protectors of all things Malay?
In racial matters, the Royals must tread softly but carry a big stick to ensure that their message of racial harmony in their respective states are well received and acted upon by their subjects. The Royals must see that race will not be used by politicians for their own advantage - for these politicians will use religion to divide and rule over their constituents.
There has to be a balance between all these things that will decide the very fabric of our Malaysian society and the recent actions of the Royals in deciding what Government should be given the opportunity to govern our Nation after PRU15 demonstrates their resolve to do the right thing by all of us - and more critical, the right thing for our Nation.
Daulat Tuanku....the Royals must continue to play their role in making our nation great again. We pray that they will continue to ensure that respect and dignity be given to all Malaysians irrespective of their race, their religion, or their political druthers...and in return, we Malaysians will pledge our loyalty, respect, and affection for these Royals who have somehow, with much wisdom, made themselves relevant to the times that we now live in. Daulat Tuanku.
I attended one of those mcoba dinner yrs ago at kl convention center and that was the first time pmx was able to make it after his release from prison in 2003. Note the non traditional tie 🤣
The late Agong, Tuanku Jaafar mencemar duli( defile the nobility) and walked to our table and chatted with pmx. The king expressed his pleasure at pmx's release from prison. He brought along his beautiful daughter Tunku Irinah. The king then further visited pmx in munich at the alpha klinik when pmx went there to fix his spine. The raja raja melayu has always supported pmx even then.
The current king may have been displeased at Tun M and a certain group that…
Yes, it is possible for the Royals to adopt a similar stance on race and religion, as demonstrated by the efforts of the Sultans of Johor and Selangor in promoting unity and respect for other religious beliefs within their respective states. However, it will require continued commitment and action from the Royals to address issues of race and religion in a constructive and inclusive manner.
