A few things have changed in Malaysian politics after PRU14, none more dramatically than the fact that now, everybody can be PM - à la the Air Asia slogan "Now Everyone Can Fly" - a great slogan indeed, but with that slogan, alas, came the Air Asia mentality.
What is the Air Asia mentality? The "Now everybody can fly" slogan used by Air Asia is a sales pitch to tell people that Air Asia fares are so cheap that now, anybody can afford to fly... BUT.... what Air Asia failed to tell us is that you have to pay extra for food and drinks, that the services provided by Air Asia on the ground and in the air leave much to be desired, and that 'cheapness" comes at a price - almost everything is cheap and bad....and people prefer to pay extra for MAS, so that their flight experience is better.
After PRU14 the "Now Everyone Can Be PM" mentality, also came with the "Air Asia mentality'.
Now in Bolehland, anyone can be a PM. We had Tun Mahathir, Muhuyiddin, and last and least, Ismail Sabri as PM.... but it was the baggage that came with these PMs that has made Malaysian asks if the revolving door of politics that has allowed anyone to be PM, a good thing?
First, Pakatan Harapan, had Tun Mahathir as PM. Tun started with a bang, but left with a whimper after failing to do what PH had promised the people it would do if they came into government - make Malaysia a better place with fewer racial and religious issues. Once the euphoria of coming into government dissipated, it was back to the politics of race and religion...or as Muhyiddin and Gang insisted - there was just not enough race and not enough religion in the PH government - and so they came up with Langkah Sheraton to make right what they said was wrong with the PH government - the same PH government that they were a part of.
The PN government, under the Cirit Berit Abah aka Muhyiddin, then proceeded to overload the government with a bloated, oversize, almost all Malay Cabinet, and politically appointed GLCs heads, all of which were really nothing more than 'jobs for the boys'.
And then began a frenzied grab grab grab for every financial gain that they could possibly grab, by everyone in the PN government. And of course, we cannot forget the ridiculous number of "ministerial ranked" appointments made by Abah before and after his Cirit Berit days....the most ridiculous of which was the appointment of the ministerial ranked envoy, of a terrorist, to be Malaysian's envoy to the Middle East - who, because he was already designated as a terrorist, could not travel to the countries of which he was appointed envoy of! Ha ha ha.....ajaib tapi benar!
The final costs of the gravy train that went round and round the mulberry bush during the days of the PN government are still being totaled up - suffice to say that Najib's 1MDB has now been retired as the numero uno scam of the century for Malaysia, if not the world. Yes, it seems that no Malay can equal Abah record as the biggest scammer south of Thailand - not even that wife of Rosmah.
Usually, you save the best for last....but in the case of the blur, Ismail Sabri from Bera, it was a case of the worst for last. In terms of height and tenure, Mail Bera was the shortest PM we ever have had the misfortune to have had: from August 2021 to November 2022. Hell, I know of some perishable food that has a longer shelf life than the time that Ismail Bera was PM. In the end, fittingly if I may add, Mail Bera committed Hari Kiri when he agreed to Zahid Hamidi request to have a PRU long before a PRU is due. Stupidity, thy name is Ismail Bera!
Now that we have had a few lessons about who or what we should not have as a prime minister, has the Malaysian public learned anything?
If the results of PRU15 are anything to go by...one word "NO".
PN, with the Cirit Berit Abah and the ministerial ranked terrorist who was appointed to be Malaysia's envoy to the Middle East, almost came to within a whisker of becoming the government of the day. PN would have been in government had it not been for the arrogance of the Cirit Berit Abah who thought that he, not Anwar, should be PM.
Anyway, long story short, PH is now in government led by Anwar who is now PMX.
Will we see any more of the Air Asia mentality - that "Now Everybody Can Be PM" mentality surface in the coming months?
That is indeed the cepu mas question, kan?
Anwar has already won a vote of confidence in parliament that gave his tenure as PM validity. That vote of confidence will soon be tested in the coming state elections when the vote of confidence is given by the respective states where the elections are being had and not by parliament.
All things considered, there will be a 50/50 opportunity for another session of musical chairs/revolving doors in Putrajaya. In the Prime Minister's Office to be exact. Notwithstanding all the MOU or any other agreement that has already been signed among the parties in the PH unity government, winning the state elections, or not, will decide if Anwar will, or will not, continue as PM dalam masa terdekat.
It is now 4.22 am Tuesday 7 Feb. Time to get some sleep. Be good. Do good and be nice to one another.
