I do not know who Focus Malaysia is, but, to portray Syed Saddiq political work as being the "latest round of attention-seeking to win the hearts and minds of many" seems, to me, a bit disingenuous with a tad self-serving for a self-titled business weekly to do. Saddiq means well. Saddiq is an earnest, well-meaning young politician out to save Malaysia from itself. And if he is to be faulted at all...it is for his lack of nuance and awareness of how he should go about the business of saving Malaysia from itself.
I salute him for his untiring efforts at helping those who are most in need of help. Help he has given because it is needed. Help he has given because we are all our brothers and sister's keeper and each, and every one of us, is duty-bound to extend a helping hand to those who are not as fortunate as we are. And that help he has given before PRN Johor was even a dot on the political horizon of Johor. Even before Muda incorporation as a political party and, even though he is no longer a serving Minister in any government.
This guy is the real deal. This guy is the generation of young politicians that we sorely are in need of now, in order that the future we want for ourselves and for Malaysia, will be realized. Do not let anyone else tell you differently. His personal sacrifices for politics so far tell me that Syed Saddiq is a man for all seasons - and for all times - in or out of government. And we are asking him to sacrifice more. Much more - an ask that will require for him to take more than his share of the burden that all other politicians should also shoulder but do not!
He is no budak suruhan of Tun Mahathir. No orang kita of DAP, Warisan or PKR. He gives respect where respect is due to those older and more senior than him, but he himself asks that they too, give him what respect is his due. Let us give thanks that there is among us today this guy call Syed Saddiq.
A rough diamond? Yes, a rough diamond waiting to be cut and polished BUT remember this ....underneath the young, good-looking (at least better than the Pendek Down South) exterior lies a good man and underneath that layer of a good man, lies another layer of a man who went from a Debater, then into politics, into government and cabinet as a Minister, and then out of government within two years...and in all this time he never once stumbled, faltered or even hesitated to move forward towards what we all want: a better Malaysia.
Syabas young man. This 75-year-old man living in Melbourne, who has never met you or have heard about you until a few years back...I, and many others, are holding a vigil to make sure that we will be there for you if ever you have any need of our assist.
Now on to Putrajaya.
