It is unfortunate that PMX's obsession with gaining popularity within the country has assumed a greater significance than carrying out his challenging and difficult duties as a prime minister.
The reforms that he was famously advocating, that won him this high post. seem to be no longer a part of his agenda. He seems more keen to win support from diehard PN supporters than in administering the nation.
The events created by Hamas on October 7 seem to have derailed even more, our beloved PMX. His weakness for playing to the gallery and seeking world recognition is showing up.
His core and sworn duty is to the nation to bring about greater national unity, economic recovery and seek support of the entire population to make some sacrifices so that the country can come out of this shadow of despair, division and disturbing distrust.
Foreign trips at this stage seem such a fanciful distraction, a neglect of responsibility and a dereliction of duty. He is making the same mistakes of Dr M, now known more as a discredited and divisive figure. .
