PERSPECTIVE : A Bunch of Jagoh Kampongs.

Das Madhavan

The Nons in M’sia must be the most frustrated among the population since they invested their hopes for change with Anwar’s government.

PAS supporters include a large segment of former UMNO supporters who believe that an Islamic state will deliver the change they are thinking of. Even though Iran stands in front of them as an example of where we will end up, they can’t see that part. The initial euphoria of an Islamic government is turning into the current nightmare.

The majority of Malays, unfortunately, have been sufficiently brainwashed to ensure they will never vote for a non-Malay leader. Hence the only viable option is for them to vote for ‘the better of two evils’ ...for whichever Malay “leader” is less extreme.

I don’t see any Malay statesman (in the mould of Tungku) in the current landscape who can deliver a new model of governance with special privileges based only on need and not race-based. This is the sad reality - we don’t have National leaders, only a bunch of Jagoh Kampongs.

PAS supporters...they choose not to see an Iran-like world, women in burqahs, can't walk out in public, can't drive, can't work, can't become leaders in any organization, etc. And the women supporters of PAS are defending it like the chicken defending KFC.

The Nons in Malaysia can only wait passively; for the minds of the Malays (both leaders and followers) to open to the fact that no nation in the world can flourish without meritocracy.

Agree, no candidates from current main parties have any future statesman to show but IMHO - Khairy, Saddig and Shahril has potential but will need good mentorship and non racial party affiliation.
