Selamat Pagi Malaysia.
Zahid Hamidi is now Umno's president. It is sad, painful, and embarrassing to watch this man, who is without integrity, a sense of self, insight, and morality, trying to be what he is not...a leader for Umno.
From the time that he was ordered to enter his defense on the 47 court charges over corruption, CBT, and money laundering charges, he has gone to plead with Tun Mahathir, Mahiaddin, Ismail Sabri, Ku Li, DSAI, Mr. Sultan Down South and Dollah, among others, for their intervention in his court case. They have all said no because there was nothing to gain for themselves, for Umno, for Malaysia, and for Malaysians in helping Zahid Hamidi.
And so, to save himself, Zahid Hamidi aligns himself not with Umno, not with Ismail Sabri the prime minister, but with BossKu. Who can forget the time when Zahid Hamidi humiliatingly pulled aside Ismail Sabri to make way for Najib Razak after the Johor state election!
In his simple mind, Zahid Hamidi thought that he, as president of Umno, together with Najib Razak, the convicted felon, was the invincible team that would save themselves, Rosmah, and the Umno court cluster from going to jail.
All that was needed to make that happen was to have a general election when he, as president of Umno, had the watikah to decide who will stand for election to represent Umno. Win that general election, Zahid Hamidi will have his men in parliament to do his bidding.
Ismail Sabri and the Judiciary had other ideas.
Najib Razak is now incommunicado in Kajang, and Ismail Sabri does not want a general election until the Judiciary had decided on Zahid Hamidi's guilt or innocence on those 47 charges of corruption, CBT, and money laundering charges.
What happens now?
As President of Umno, Zahid Hamidi wants a few things to be done - among them, a general election dengan segera, and for Umno to petition the King to pardon Najib Razak.
Not one week into a twelve-year sentence, and the president of Umno is petitioning the King to grant Najib a pardon? Ini bodoh punya kerja lah!
Dollah has another year to go as King. What he has done as King - from appointing Mahiaddin as PM, his agreement to extend Mahiaddin political life by the declaration of the Covid Pandemic Emergency, and the "business opportunities" that have come his way as King, has made Dollah a rich man. In the one year that he has left, he knows that he should not rock the boat that he is sailing in. For now, Ismail Sabri is the Nakhoda of that Umno boat.
There is nothing that the convicted felon serving his sentence in Kajang can do to make Dollah any richer. Dollah will do what the government of the day tells him to do. So perish the thought that Dollah is thinking of putting his neck on the block by giving Najib a pardon!
As for the general election that Zahid Hamidi wants dengan segera....let us see how the president of Umno will prevail over the prime minister of Malaysia.
The incumbent prime minister, Ismail Sabri, is focused on running the country (so he tells us...nudge nudge wink wink). I am sure Ismail Sabri will be able to focus on doing just that, with Najib Razak in Kajang and Zahid Hamidi fighting for his political life in the courts. Kan?
Enough said.
