Man's inhumanity to man: Israel, Gaza, Mahathir, Din and Hadi. Will DSAI prevail?

Let us not go too far....the Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot killed 1.7 million of their own people through work, starvation, and torture. In Indonesia, an estimated half a million people, members of the Partai Komunis Indinesia (PKI), were massacred by the Indonesian Army, with help from local religious and youth groups. In Malaysia, during the May 13 racial riots of 1969, the official death toll was 196, but independent reporters estimated up to ten times as many people died.

And, in the last few days, over 2000 lives have been lost in the Gaza-Israel war.

Excuse me for a minute. I have to make myself a Short Black and get myself some Honey Almond Cinnamon cereal clusters with Oat Milk for an early breakfast.

And...... that is how most of us will be looking at this latest of man's inhumanity to man in the Middle East. Most of us are armchair critics righteously debating the right and wrong of Hamas murderous incursions into Israel and Israel's brutal annihilation of Palestinian lives and properties in retaliation, while we have a Latte.....but at least we feel good that we are having earnest discussions about the plight of the long-suffering Palestinians and the arrogant Zionists, kan?

And while we have our Latte, what is happening in the Middle East?

Already by the fourth day of this Israel-Gaza war, over 2000 human beings, 2000 human beings who were alive and well only a week ago, are all now dead.

Towards what ends? Revenge? To get some measure of dignity in their lives? The why's and wherefores of how these lives needed to be lost are many and can be debated end over end, but it will still not justify man's inhumanity to other men. Never!

I just want the killings to stop. I know that there are many good guys among us who want these killings to stop, then there are evil guys among us who want the killings to go on.

So why are the good guys not winning in the Israel-Gaza war?

Ask yourself this same question about the state of our nation today. Why are those people who are talking about race and religion and causing much havoc and mayhem in our lives allowed to carry on with their tirades? Why are the good guys, even in Malaysia, losing?

Let us hold up a mirror to the society that we are now. How do you see yourself? Are you against corruption? Do you want good governance? Do you want justice to prevail? You want decency and grace in our lives. Do you want our values to define us, not our race, and our religion. Do you see yourself as the good guys/gals?

And do you not see standing beside you/with you...Anwar Ibrahim?

Nobody has given us the kind of enthusiasm that Anwar has given us to want change in Malaysia kan? We were with him at the start of Reformasi. Step by torturous step, we realized that Anwar was here to stay. That he was not afraid. Not afraid to speak the truth as he and we saw it. And his absence of fear inspired others.

Finally, in November 2022, DSAI became Prime Minister. Anwar speaks the language of human rights, democracy, and justice. And he has us on his side. We want him to prevail. We want him to make politics more civilized, more rational, more humane, and we see in him, an authentic representative of that cause.

But let us not forget the Mahathir's learning curve. Personal survival is more important than the well-being of the people. Hadi, Muhyiddin, Hamzah, and others believe that with Anwar as PM, it will result in their political demise and imprisonment. These are vile leaders willing to pay the price of Malaysia becoming a failed nation, accepting economic collapse, isolation, and mass poverty in Malaysia if that’s what it takes for them to stay in power.

If we fail to understand the brutality of the zero-sum competition that these evil leaders have sought to promote during their time in power. If we do not remove these leaders from our midsts. If we cease to interest ourselves in the fate of our PMX and the Madani government that he leads. If Anwar doesn’t hold previous leaders who have done wrong to account, then the green wave will prevail.

Let us cease to be armchair critics of this Madani government and of DSAI. I have been awake since 4.30 a.m. at my desk in front of my Mac trying to make some sense of the thoughts in my head - and putting them down into words for this article About the Israel-Gaza war and about why, even as many good people, do not want it to happen, the killings go on.

And I was also thinking of what is now happening in our Malaysia....that the good people in Malaysia seem to be losing to the bad...losing to the green wave that is being led by Hadi, Muhyiddin, and now, Mahathir too.

We must cease to be armchair critics of PMX and this Madani government. We must get up and be counted. We must support and make some noise to tell others that we are with PMX. and we want him and this Madani government to prevail. We will do all this because we want what is best for Malaysia and Malaysians.

Yes, they are winning BUT they have not yet won. We are going to be defeated if we start to believe that nothing can change. From the days of Reformasi to Madani, it has always been a fight about doing the right thing for Malaysia and all Malaysians. Please DSAI......do not forget that!

One of your remarks reminded me of the words of Lim Kit Siang who told the hordes of professionals fleeing Malaysia after May 13: " Do not abandon your mother land. Stand up and be counted".
