I will keep doing this or I will die trying....and at 76, that is not an idle boast!

Can you and I make a difference? No seriously…I really want to get into a discussion with you guys. Can we make a difference in the things that are now happening in our nation? Can we stop corruption? Can we stop race and religion playing havoc with our lives? Can we make these politicians understand that we will hold them to their words, their promise and the pledge made before, during and after the election…and if they lie, will we be able to punish them for their lies? Are we powerless to stop them from reneging on their words once they are in office?

I know that as a blogger, people take me seriously only when I write about things that matter to many, and when I have the numbers….enough people read what I write. How many people is that? At least 10k a day. These days my average is between 2k to 6k…on a good day over 10K….so steadyaku is nothing. That is why I have put a site meter on my blog page to remind me what needs to be done. Write good copy!

I have you guys who read what I write, thank you...but that’s it. So I am working towards pushing that number past 10K a day. Whether I do or not is within my ability to manage. I must write what is in my head and what I think is needed to make Malaysia great again. I must write what you guys want to read…and we must try to do this together. How do we do this together? I write and you guys read. And we talk. Please share what I write with others. …and you guys must tell me what you think of what I write. Here is a message sent to me by one of our friends:

Your last article on Dsai, is too long, too much to chew even Dsai will not read it … the conclusion, please … also too weak …..as a blogger you have to be assertive not passive or aggressive. The subject Dsai is not focussing on domestic rakyat issues …..write a series on what Dsai should do: eg food, a lot of issues not just supply, prices etc … lousy ministers. Dsai chairs a task force immediately on Food and reports to the people weekly ….check prices …. talk intelligently visit kampung , listen more …

And then there are these kind of messages:

I read every line that you guys send me ...just remember this: do not write to advance your personal agenda. Nobody is interested in reading yours or my personal agenda. It is OUR agenda that matters. Malaysia for everyone who calls it home. Inclusive, embracing and a life with dignity and respect for each other. Keep that mantra in your head. "Malaysia for everyone who calls it home. Inclusive, embracing and a life with dignity and respect for each other".

After a decade of blogging, after PH win over Barisan Nasional in 2018, and after the euphoria of victory, I remember asking myself "What do I do now? Do I stop blogging, come home and work towards the Malaysia we all want?" and the same question was asked by me after the formation of this Unity Government in November 2022.

I did come home a few months back....but only for a few months....for in truth, even with this Unity Madani Government, there is still much work to be done if Malaysia is to be in the image of what most of us want: Malaysia for everyone who calls it home. Inclusive, embracing and a life with dignity and respect for each other.

And so I go back to what I do best. Write. Let us keep those bastards honest. Let us keep reminding them that we, not them, will eventually decide who will lead our people and our nation. I will keep doing this or I will die trying....and at 76, that is not an idle boast!
