Anwar - a common man with uncommon resolve.

Anwar Ibrahim is, like you and me, a human being first. If you prick him, he will bleed. If you tickle him, he will laugh. If you poison him, he will be ill...he is as common as we are. Yet as common as he is, there is an uncommon strength within him that enables him to survive all that has been thrown his way by others who mean to do him harm. Let us not dwell too much on his personal self, for that would be the last thing Anwar would want us to do. Let us instead see what Anwar has rekindled within the hearts of Malaysian since he took over the leadership of this wretched nation of ours.

In the final few months before PRU15, we were asking each other the same question.....what if PH won PRU15, will Anwar be PM? If by some magic all those within the Opposition were able to come together, surely PH will be in government again.

But these were thoughts that come and go, for always, the overriding cloud that hangs threateningly over us in the Opposition was simply this. We have the numbers, we have the momentum, and we have, within the Opposition, all the good people we need that can win and do government, and yet that "united we stand, divided we fall" consciousness never did get the opposition together.

Hence the hung parliament.

And then the horse-trading, some say negotiations, began in earnest. The rakyat who have just voted to have Anwar as our leader were not part nor privy to these negotiations that will determine their fate. All that we had left within us, was hope. We hope that somehow PH and Anwar will prevail. We did not know how Anwar and PH will prevail, but that was all we had: HOPE. AUDACIOUS HOPE...we hope that Anwar will do right by us.

If anyone could pull things together, Anwar could. And he did. And we all gave a collective sigh of relief and joy...free at last, free at last...thank god almighty, we are free at last of the past.

Now, going into the future, with Muhuyiddin and Hadi threatening the very future of our nation with their toxic mix of race, religion, and politics, again we can only hope that Anwar Ibrahim will succeed in leading this mixed government to a common end - ONE MALAYSIA.

And when all you have is hope and a prayer, you need one of our own to understand our hopes, our dreams, and what we want Malaysia to be. You need another human being to understand the hopes that are in your heart and to help you fight for your dreams and your ideals.

You can find no better human being than Anwar to have by your side. Someone to keep you company when you walk forward towards the future, and when needed, someone to lead you towards the future you want for you and your family.

We now have one of our own to lead us, and having come from within us, it does not matter what station in life he is now at. For me, Anwar Ibrahim came from us and will always be one of us. Amen.
