Umno, Pas, Tun Razak, Dap and Racism.
Asri Muda meets Tun Abdul Razak
Tun Razak said that PAS is the alternative to Umno…a natural alternative. PAS was in the Barisan Nasional government when Tun Razak was Prime Minister. The dream and mission of Tun Razak was to put PAS and UMNO together but when Tun Hussein was Prime Minister, PAS left. Later an attempt was made by the short-lived Muafakat Nasional whose main aim is to unite the Malay/Muslim community for electoral purposes….and since then, Umno majority control of government has simply faded away. On religion, PAS has the edge over UMNO.
At GE 15, the election strategy that Anwar adopted was to strengthen Umno and take away Malay support from PAS. Anwar missed the point that the majority of Malay voters supported PAS because the Chinese voters, almost 97% of them, supported DAP. PAS and DAP propaganda machinery continuously strengthened and deepened the feelings of insecurity and hatred that the Chinese and the Malays felt for each other. So if you want to talk about racism, both DAP and PAS are responsible.
Today a good portion of Malay voters have moved to PAS and almost 70% of MCA voters have migrated to DAP. Will we see another realignment of political loyalties in the coming days? The natives are restless....
