cakap cakap.....revenge or justice?

Let us not begrudge those who have suffered or felt the wrath of past ill-conceived political prosecution or even persecution against them, whether real or imagined, from seeking ways and means to pursue their pound of flesh from those who have wronged them.

There is no doubt that even if the arrest and subsequent incarceration of Najib Razak were deserved, and the criminal intents and abuse of public office already proven, Najib's saga and the yet-to-be-concluded saga of the Umno Court Cluster, has deeply divided our nation. We do need to ask ourselves if our nation needs to wash our dirty laundry in so public a manner, for surely Najib's excesses and criminality, are the sum of what Umno and our nation have allowed to happen? Why did it happen under our watch? Why did we continue to vote these people back into office time and time again? Surely we too need to carry some blame for allowing these individuals to hold public office - and in the process abusing and using their time in public office for self-gain?

We must find a way to rid ourselves of corruption and the abuse of public office for personal gain, but we must do so without tearing at the fabric that binds not only our people together, but more critically, we must find ways and means to build our sense of pride and commitment towards ourselves and our leaders in a more constructive way than to have the follies of greedy and abusive political leaders exposed to public contempt and odium as it is being done now.

I am not advocating that we stop the prosecution of Rosmah, Zahid, the Umno Court cluster, and anyone else guilty of the abuse of public office, far from it! These court cases should continue unabated but not in their present form where the Media and the powers that be, ghoulishly highlight every infraction for the 'entertainment' of the equally ghoulish rakyat. Remember, there is a nation to be built from the ashes and ruins of over seven decades of a ruinous Barisan Nasional regime. Those political rouges in Umno has done enough harm and damage to every facet of our nation's consciousness...it is time to leave those times behind and start the new Malaysia that we talked much about and the Malaysians that we will need to make that Malaysia a reality.

Let us leave the prosecution of those who have wronged our nation in the capable hands of our courts. Leave it to our judges to do what is right, and let it be known that the rakyat will not condone any attempts to find a political solution to any criminal or treasonous deed by politicians while they are holding public office. Better still, this DSAI-led PH government should forthwith put into place checks and balances that will ensure that justice is meted out to everyone without fear or favor.

The task of nation-building is, by itself, an enormous undertaking that is now the responsibility of our PMX DSAI and his Cabinet Ministers and I would rather see them focussed diligently on the work at hand than to see them diverted or distracted by the need to seek some personal satisfaction in bringing their past detractors to justice. Leave justice to the judiciary to do. We sorely need DSAI and his Cabinet Ministers to focus on nation-building and nothing else but nation-building. Amen.
