Sunday morning is a good day for reflections on the week passed. The good, the bad and the ugly....but it is more interesting to talk about the bad and the ugly kan! So let us go first with the bad and the ugly.
Radzi Jidin is not only bad but also ugly. He has a face only a mother could have loved. That is the ugly part. I, to have a face that only my mother could have loved, but I am not a Member of Parliament. Nor am I the one yelling, "Tarik Balik. Tarik Balik. Tarik Balik" to the prime minister, and having a video of that incident replayed over and over again in the homes of millions of Malaysians. They are wondering how one of their Yang Berhormat have become like a baboon on heat! With the face I have, I know it would be more prudent for me to just STFU and make like a tree. That way, no one notices me....but for Radzi Ālea iacta est the die is cast. For the rest of his life, the image of him shouting "Tarik balik. Tarik balik. Tarik balik" will follow him everywhere he goes....in the same manner as the people of Berln will remember JFK for his "Ich bin ein Berliner.". While we remember JKF with much affection, Radzi Jidin will be remembered with contemptuous ridicule and deserved mockery!
What about the good? PMX on the world stage in New York is good. Remember that time when Kepit Man was in New York with you know who? Staying at the Trump Tower and telling Trump that he wants to help make America great again! MAGA. Huh ...now can has to do it from Kajang!
What has our PMX been doing in New York? From the reports coming in from the US, he is doing us proud. In his speech at the UN, he signaled his intent, to the rest of the world, that he would be a leader not only for Malaysia, but he will be a voice of concern and conscience for the rest of the world as Mandela was.
I don't see Najib, Muhyiddin, or Ismail Sabri being able to pull off this kind of declaration. They simply do not have the credentials to do so. Mahathir can, but our PMX did so with panache and grace. He did so with conviction and commitment. Now here is the point that I am trying to make: DSAI has declared to the world what he will do for Malaysia (Malaysia Madani) and what he will try to do for the rest of the world that is not as fortunate as we are. Lofty ideals indeed, but he has made a personal commitment to do good. I know that at the very least, he will try to do that...something that Najib, Muhyiddin, and Ismail Sabri did not even try to do. Enough said.
Anwar Ibrahim is one of us. Ok lah, he did another conversion in New York. Let us understand this ...he did not convert the man into a Muslim...he led the Islamic declaration of faith for the man. What is wrong with that? I do not see anything wrong with what our PMX did as I do not see anything wrong with Hannah Yeoh's Christian convictions - it just goes to show us how faith is a prime mover for righteousness, justice, and good governance in the state and the nation....for everybody.
So please all of you who are finding fault in this matter...grow up and understand that PMX and Hannah Yeoh are simply doing what their hearts tell them to do when it comes to matters of faith and religion - be good, do good, and be nice to one another.
The weekend is as good as over. Almost 7 pm here in Melbourne and my thoughts are already turning to the coming week. At 75 I am very aware of my coming mortality, but mortality does not worry me. What worries me are the people who are deliberately running down our PMX, this Madani government, and whatever gains we have been making since late last year when this Unity Government came into being.
Our PMX is not perfect. This Madani Unity Government is not perfect, but compared to what we have had to put up with in these last few years with Najib, Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Ismail Sabri ... I think DSAI, to say the least, is different!
Do not harp about the two conversions that DSAI has been witnessed to in KL and New York...think GREEN WAVE! Think about there being no cinemas in Kelantan. Think about non-Muslim women being fined for wearing shorts in Kelantan. Think about how difficult it is for Muslim men to wear Bermuda shorts in public due to the strict enforcement of Islamic laws and once caught in the act, they can be fined on the spot with a possible jail sentence.Think about all those obnoxious words - infidels and pendatangs being hurled at non-Muslims and non-Malays. And think about the constant reminder that Islam, the Malays, and the Royals are under threat from the non-Malays - all lies made to advance the political interests of political parties already bankrupt of any idea except the use of race and religion to gain votes.
DSAI, his two deputies, and ministers in his cabinet cannot be faulted for any of the above! What they have done since taking office late last year is simply to take us all forward towards inclusiveness - in all things Malaysians. They do make mistakes, but they hear what we say and more heartening, they listen to what we say. In anybody's language and understanding - these are steps in the right direction: forward.
I do not want to go on too much about our PMX, and about the good that he and this Madani government have done so far, lest you think me that I am on their payroll. Nudge nudge wink wink. The only payroll I am on is. my own. I want what is best for our nation and what is best for our people. So should you!
Just one last thought...can we also go back to those times when we can all really dance
without a care in the world....please!
