Selamat Pagi Malaysia.
If there is one overriding emotion that has dominated the lives of Malaysians in these past few weeks, it has to be relief.
Relief that common sense has prevailed over the politics of race and religion. Relief that there is now, in the PMO in Putrajaya, a leader of considerable political acumen and substance that was able to put together a government from the reality of a hung parliament. a government with considerable clout - a two-thirds majority - a government that can promise much and should have the ability to deliver what it promised.
And all this was done with the assistance of other political entities, of which two, BN and DAP, had demonstrated an extraordinary ability to compromise and give Anwar Ibrahim political license to put together a government that promised to be a government of the people, for the people and by the people.
PRU15 will also be remembered as a time when the Royals drew upon nothing more than their Daulats and moral authority, to do the right thing for Malaysia and Malaysians. The Council of Rulers gave their Royal approval and blessing upon Anwar Ibrahim to be prime minister. More critically, they called upon him to put together a Unity Government in the spirit of togetherness among Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, or culture.
Everything came together on Friday evening, on the 2nd of December, when DSAI announced his Cabinet to a Malaysia that had waited with much trepidation as to how DSAI could walk the tightrope of vested interests, political difference, and the need to have meritocracy in a multi-racial coalition of diverging political ideologies representing a rainbow of communities from Sabah, Sarawak, and Semenanjung.
With some minor hiccups, DSAI delivered on the Royal command and the expectations of Malaysians - DSAI did manage to put together a Unity Government in the spirit of togetherness among Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, or culture.
And now comes the hard part...making it all work!
I can give you many reasons why the Unity Government put together by DSAI will not work, but I will not.
Instead, let me tell you why it will work.
First, there is the moral authority of the Royal Council behind DSAI....more like a Royal Command that must be obeyed. No one, in their right mind, will go against that command. Not even Hadi or Muhyiddin.
In the Unity Government Cabinet, I see only Ministers who will make government work because their interests and ours, that of making Malaysia great again, are shared by the Royals, by DSAI, and everyone else in this beloved Malaysia of ours. We will all make it work.
And this Unity Government will work because the alternative, a PN government, takes us back to the days when race and religion burdened every facet of our then wretched and miserable existence. We are not going back to the Stone Age - not when we already have a government for the people, by the people, and of the people.
Last week, we were debating why Zahid Hamidi should, or should not be DPM. Well, Zahid Hamidi is DPM. Learn to live with that.
Some of you were wondering why two DPMs? Which one would be PM when DSAI is on an extended holiday? Worry no more because there are two DPMs, and I am sure the powers that be, would have put in place the protocols to be adhered to if one of them had to be acting PM while DSAI is on an extended holiday.
And last week, there were many voices heard demanding that DSAI should not choose to have in his cabinet, anyone who has lost in PRU15. Guess what? DSAI now have two Ministers in the Cabinet who have lost their contested seats in PRU15...and again....you will have to live with that!
Life is all about the unexpected!
We have never had a Unity Government before. We have never had a PM who has spent years behind bars. We have never had the Royals tell a prime minister that he must put together a Unity Government in the spirit of togetherness among Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, or culture. We have never had Umno win only 30 seats in any election ever! And we must not forget that if we do not succeed with this Unity Government, the alternative of a PN government dominated by Hadi from that Piss Pot PAS should be reason enough for all of us to want DSAI to make his Unity Government work!
It is now 4.58 am on Sunday, and I am fed up and tired. I am fed up because I am writing when I should be sleeping, but I just had to put my thoughts on paper before I forget what I am thinking. When you are 75, that happens a lot. So think about that...you guys are all sleeping at this time of the morning, and I am writing!
Anyway...it is now past 5 am and I must try and get some sleep. Thank you for reading what I write. Life is good, Be good, do good and be nice to one another.
