cakap cakap: a blogger goes home.

Let us do some straight talking here.

In the past few months when I was back in KL and even now that I am in Melbourne, there have been a few things said about me that needed a response from me, but before I address those comments, let me put right, a few things that are wrong. You guys must be familiar with the following video and other similar postings that followed my return to KL a few months back.

Before I returned to KL, I wrote to the IGP and the KDN minister requesting a safe return and a safe departure from KL. Arrangements were made, and my request was granted.

Let me reiterate that the two waran tangkap against me tidak di tarikk balek.

These guys said that my arrival in KL "disambut bagai wira"? How so? No kompangs, no groups of supporters or media were at the airport to sambut me. A classmate, Yusof, and his wife were the only two who sambut me at KLIA. And as for the police officers who were at the airport....when you are met by lima pegawai polis at KLIA you can rest assured that they were not there to sambut me.

Memang betul saya sekelas dengan DSAI but I cannot remember the last time I met him. Certainly not in the three months that I was in KL. It has been a long long time. Hopefully one day we will meet and talk about our kolej days.

After a few days in KL, I made the pilgrimage to Bukit Aman. The last time I was in Bukit Aman was decades ago when my late father was Director CID under Haniff. For me, PDRM is family. I made a lengthy, and comprehensive statement (over 20 pages) to explain, and clarify what and why I have written and posted the things I did on my blog steadyaku47. To date, I have yet to know what the AGC thought of my statement. And until they do, I wait.

I did not write anything on my blog during my stay in KL because I did not want to give anybody any reason to take offense to anything I wrote. As any blogger knows, you cannot please everybody with what you write. I started writing again on my return to Melbourne.

I want PMX to remain as PM. He is the best person to do the job. My support for DSAI is not unconditional but for me, there is nobody else on the horizon who can remotely lay claim to being able to do the job...not even Tun Mahathir, now that we know what he thinks of the non-Malays.

I met with a lot of people while I was in KL, and they all, in one way or another, want DSAI to succeed as leader of the Unity Government. The only one who gave me an unequivocal "no" was Tun Mahathir. We agreed to disagree, but I must confess that I disagreed with Tun very, very politely.

Who else did I meet? Kit Siang, Tommy Thomas, Ambiga, Hannah Yeoh, Syed Saddiq, Tian Chua, Sivarasa, Kee Thuan Chye, Zulkifli Sulong, Zaid Ibrahim, Dr Kamsiah, Tamrin Ghaffar, Tawfik Ismail, Dr Lim Teck Ghee, Dato’ Arshad Raji Raji of Patriot and a host of people whose opinion of all things Malaysia and Malaysians, I wanted to hear. And of course, many old friends whom I have not seen for over a decade.

You guys have been telling me that I have changed. You tell me that what I write these days are bland and mellow articles that unabashedly support DSAI and his Madani Unity government. Our nation is in flux and there is no sense for any of us to muddy the waters any more than what it already is....so these days I will do just that. Write responsibly and take care to write to membina rather than to hina.

Do I want to stay in KL? For sure, I do, but I first need to be able to earn a decent income. At 75 that is a tough call. It is a work in progress. I am now back in Melbourne and already planning my next trip back to KL to follow through on the things I started when I was last there.
