Selamat Pagi Malaysia.
Saturday 4th November 2023. 6.20 am Melbourne. I have just had my first Short Black of the morning with a glass of Mango juice (two ice cubes) taken to chill my throat after the Short Black. Normally a glass of water would suffice but this morning I felt like a glass of Manjo Juice...and when you are debating with yourself what you will or will not have to go with that Short Black, you win because there is nobody to tell you no!
According to the video below, success at 75 is being with friends. Last night, past 8 pm, Lawrence called and suggested we go out for Coffee and Pancakes....not dinner because he knows that at 8 pm I am done with dinner. And so was he. And that was what we did...we drove down to the Pancake Parlour in Doncaster - for a Caramel Pancake with Ice Cream....and talked, as friends do, about politics in Malaysia, about politics in Malaysia and then a bit more about politics in Malaysia.
It is now 7.02 a.m. the morning after, and I am at my keyboard.
So many things to write about and yet I am not rushed to do things in a hurry. We 75-year-old bloggers have the time, the inclination and the patience to make our brains work in sync with our ability to work on our keyboard - slow and steady. If my mind gets too far ahead, there is always that pen and paper nearby to jot down random thoughts that I can come back to later, and expand upon.
This morning I want to write about PAS. There is a quiet revolution going on out there. Things are not what they seem to be. Do not be deceived. Do not be fooled. Be aware. There is a reason why PAS is now talking about being the next government. PAS is not the alternative. PAS is not an option. PAS, by default, will be in Putrajaya dalam masa terdekat
Islam is the driving force that is holding PAS together. Islam is the glue that holds the Malays in PAS together, but there is more. PAS is not just Hadi and Sanusi. PAS is not a bunch of towel heads Ustaz and Mullahs leading young impressionable Malay youths towards Syahid or Syurga. It is more than that.
PAS has emerged from GE15 with the largest number of seats for any political party, not by accident, but by design. Within the core of PAS is a group of dedicated and committed professionals and tacticians focused on putting PAS into government. Hadi, Sanusi, Muhyiddin, Hamzah, Azmin and Mahathir are just the means for PAS to take government. And now Anwar Ibrahim is in their sights. They know what they are doing and they are riding the crest of those young impressionable Malay youths who are carrying PAS towards Putrajaya with the fervour and zeal that only the young have.
And so this morning I was thinking about PAS and what they can and are now doing, to take government from this Unity Madani Government i.e - looking at the realities of race and religion in politics in Malaysia. Given the fact of the Malay majority and the total dominance of Islam over all things Malaysians, it is not a matter of if they will be in Putrajaya, but when.
At 75, and living 6000kms away in Melbourne, these things may occupy my mind but I never allow them to take me away from the real world that I am now living in. In Melbourne, nobody bothers about my race, my religion or even my political druthers....and by the end of the day, it will be another day in my life that I have lived as I want to live it. How many of you can say the same things about the life that you are now living? Enough said.
