Are we pulling apart or coming together?

Selamat Pagi Malaysia.

Ask not if Malaysians are pulling apart - ask what together we can do for Malaysia. Ask yourself if we are coming together as a nation under this Madani government. Or are we pulling apart at the seams because of issues and matters beyond our ability to confront and resolve? The time for studious reflection is now rather than later, for we are all now blessed to live in a Malaysia where anything and everything is possible. We must dare to dream that our PMX is committed to making good his promise that he will be a prime minister for all Malaysians. We must believe, that his promise to rid our nation of the debilitating cancer of corruption and the divisiveness of race and religion is true. Let us pledge our intent to support him in these noble ventures, for there is little we cannot do, together.

We do not want the old to be swept aside only to be replaced by a far more sinister tyranny that also seeks to divide and rule over its own people by design through race, religion, and all that can be used to break down the spirit and values of a society already burdened by past leaders who also sought to do likewise.

Those people who have tried this and failed are now, rightly, being sought out to be punished and made to pay for the evil that they have inflicted upon our people and upon our nation. Let us support this Madani government in their work to do this, but in our support for him, we will insist that PMX also work towards reconciliation, inclusiveness, and the union of all those people who call Malaysia their home.

And nowhere is this more urgent to do than in bringing together the two prevailing forces: the Green Wave and the Madani Unity government: that is now pulling apart our people and threatening our future with the dire consequences of a people divided by race and religion. It may seem to be an impossible task for both sides to come together, but our PMX must try.

Let us begin anew — remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let PMX never negotiate and compromise with others out of fear of losing government or political power. But let PMX never fear to negotiate.

(with apologies to JFK's speechwriters)

And while we are asking PMX to do all this and more, we ourselves must look at ourselves and ask what we need to do. Stop spreading fake news would be a good start. Kan?

Be good. Do good and be nice to one another.
