Are we going back to those days when any dissent is punished arbitrarily?

By all means arrest politicians who are corrupt. Arrest anyone who is a threat to our nation's security. Arrest those who seek to use religion and race for their own vested political purpose. Arrest those who seek to divide our people and cause trouble and turmoil among our people....but do so only after ensuring that their rights and civil liberties as Malaysians are not being trampled upon, or simply cast aside for political expedience. Or worse, do not use any draconian laws to unfairly silence the opposition, any opposition just because you consider them to be a threat to your hold on political power!

PMX....do not make our nation a state where the right to free speech is curtailed. Do not make Malaysia a state where one can no longer criticize and question what our leaders do in the name of the government. Let not those who are in power seek to silence dissent and any opposition to their rule by using Sosma, the ISA, or any draconian laws, acts, and enactments to silence anyone who does not agree with what you are doing in the name of the government.

You all must have seen this video of Azmin Ali where he warned that if the PH government touches Hadi - then a thousand Hadi will arise to defend Hadi. The powers that be had been asked to arrest Azmin Ali for sedition. Why? Have they forgotten that the same Azmin Ali used to give more fiery speeches to the followers of Anwar Ibrahim who was then imprisoned in Sungai Buloh - beseeching supporters of Anwar to break the walls of Sungai Buloh and free Anwar?

Listen up guys...and think.

We are living in a democracy. We must accept that free speech and the ability for our people to demonstrate and register their protest against those they do not agree with, is the right of every Malaysian - be they supporters of PH or supporters of the opposition. Do not allow these rights to be taken away from you by any government that wants to curtail all dissent and all opposition to them. This PH government is doing the very thing that was done to them when they were in the Opposition by the then BN government - the BN government that harassed them, put them in jail without trial, and used the riot police to beat them up when they demonstrated against BN and did everything else at their disposal to silence and muzzled up dissent.

We do not want the ISA. We do not want Sosma. We do not want the police to have arbitrary powers of arrest without trial. We do not want anyone else to get a black eye from beatings by the IGP. Enough!.

Those draconian days of arresting people and leaving them to rot for days, weeks, months, and, even years without trial and without proper access to the right to defend themselves must forever be consigned to the same place as we have consigned Najib Razak! Take those draconian laws, take those powers to unfairly detain people without trial and locked them up somewhere to be forgotten, and to never darken the civil liberties and freedom that we all now demand as the rakyat of a democratic Malaysia as was promised by the same Pakatan Harapan leaders who are now the leaders of our government.

Do not do to those who opposed you in government the same thing that BN used to do to you when you were in the opposition. Enough said.
