I first heard "A Whiter Shade of Pale" in London in my late teens. Today, almost six decades later, this masterpiece evokes the same emotions as it did when I first heard it.... just how can a song be so perfect... the first time...and every time I hear it since...I sit silent and transfixed, totally lost in the song. All the good, the bad, the sad, and happy things that have happened in my life ever since...all these things fill my head and I am happy, sad, troubled, and feeling good all at the same moment...that is what A Whiter Shade of Pale does to me....and will always do to me until I leave this earth. I want this song to be played in my last conscious moments on this earth...so that I can again think, for the last time, all the good, the bad, the sad, and happy things that have happened in my life.

Indeed Whiter Shade of Pale.always gives me goosepimples!
Frequently on the air by various Radio.Stations during my student days in London, it rekindle many nostalgic and sweet.memories as one.of the few, soft tempo melodious rock.ballads that made it to the top of the Charts...
And upon returning home, and frequenting Music Joints.in Malaysia and Singapore where .live bands, performed...I became.aware that.the song.was used by almost.all bands...as music during.breaks.when.another band took.over the stage.
It was the same.at Tin.Mines and Tomorrow in KL ,Kasbah in Singapore and Hyatt.Jakarta.
Made every regular.felt.at home!!!!
Yes, indeed. One of a handful of ‘immortal’ songs that should last till eternity, methinks.
He did a live performance concert in a Scandinavian country not long ago…still the same great voice. A true ‘all-time’ great!
